With great pleasure, the ILP has decided to bestow Dr. Kristóf Porkoláb at Institute of Earth Physics and Space Science, Hungary, with the Flinn-Hart Award 2026 in recognition of his outstanding research and community service, and very promising career path, in particular in the field of modelling and understanding of tectonics and seismicity of convergent plate boundaries and geoenergy research.

In addition, the ILP honor this year’s two recipients of the Evgenii Burov Medal, Prof. Boris J. P. Kaus at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, and Prof. Lu Wang at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). This prestigious medal is named after a highly respected scientist, Prof. Evgenii Burov, who made a major impact to studies of lithosphere dynamics. The Evgenii Burov Medal is awarded to Prof. Boris J. P. Kaus in recognition of his outstanding and sustained contributions to the field of geodynamic and tectonic modelling, and to Prof. Lu Wang for her outstanding contributions based on field observations to our understanding of the role of melting in the lithosphere and the discovery of evidence for Archean plate-lite tectonics.
